treatment capacities, different configurations and so on, in this article we
will mainly talk about the different types of desanders made by GN Solids
Control Company
for customer option. 

1. Firstly we will
talk about the different options of treatment capacity with the Desander. 

As we know, the
main part of 1 desander is the hydrocyclone. For GN’s desander, each
hyrocyclone is 10inch and the treatment capacity is 120m³/h. So the quantity of the hydrocyclone is
optional based on customer’s requirements. Such as below,

2. Sometimes, the
customer needs compact structure as limited by floor space but complete
functions, GN could also provide different corresponding configurations for
customer option, the details are as below,

2.1. Desander
& Shale Shaker AIO

The desander could be
combined together with different types of shale shaker.

·For the Oil & Gas Drilling with small
rig, CBM drilling, HDD, water well drilling and so on, customer could choose
the desander combined together with a mini shale shaker to get an economic
choice and acceptable drying solids;

·When customer needs the big treatment with
compact structure, like for the Oil & Gas Drilling with big rig, large HDD
rig, Tunneling Boring Machine and so on, the densander combined together with a
big shale shaker is available. 

2.2. Desander
& Desilter & Shale Shaker AIO
(all in one) machine

As we introduce it
before, this machine is also called “Mud Cleaner”. Different types of desander,
desilter and shale shaker are combined together and many different
configurations are gotten for customer option. The details are as
below,

Besides, while the
3 equipment are combined together, but they all work independently and the
desander and desilter are demountable when customer only needs the shaker.

In this article,
we will mainly talk about the desander’s working principle. 

Desander, one of
the most widely used solids control equipments used on treating the drilling
fluid. 

As we know, with
the drilling fluid circulates the drilling cuttings chipped away by the
drilling bit continuously when the drilling rig is working, the different sizes
of drilling cutting goes into the drilling fluid and the physical properties of
drilling fluids will be changed, such as the density, viscosity, solid content,
etc. The drilling fluid could not meet the further work demand. 

In order to save
the cost and protect the environment, in most of the time the drilling fluid
needs to be recycled. Now the Desander and some other necessary solids control
equipments like Shale Shaker, Desilter, Decancter Centrifuge will be worked
together for treating and cleaning the drilling fluid. By through treating the
drilling fluid, the different sizes of drilling cuttings will be separated out
and the physical properties of drilling fluid will be recovered.

According to the
technical design, the Desanders made by GN Solids Control company are usually
used for separating out the solids particles over 40μm in the fluid loop. 

Normally the desander
is used for doing the 2nd-stage treatment with the drilling fluid that after
the 1st-stage treatment by Shale Shaker. The main part of 1 desander is the
Hydrocyclone. Its work principle is as below,

Normally
pumping the treated drilling fluid by Shale Shaker to the Desander and the
fluid goes into the Hydrocyclones of desander; 

2.     
Operated
by the centrifugal force and as the centrifugal forces are different for the
solid particles and liquid. 

3.     
Finally,
the solid particles will be drained out together with some liquid from the
underflow port together; the clean drilling fluid will be drained out from the
overflow port.

In
this article, we will mainly talk about GN shale shakers’ different combinations
with Desander or Desilter, Desander and Desilter together are also available
for customers. The details are as below, 

1. GN Shale
Shaker & Desilter AIO
(all in one machine)

Compared with separate shale shaker or desilter, this
AIO machine’s function could be much stronger and the whole structure could be
more compact. It has 2 stages function for treating the drilling fluid. 

The 1st stage is by using the shale shaker for
separating out the solid articles over 100μm
usually; The 2nd stage is by using the desilter for separating
out the solid articles over 20μm
usually; 

The quantity of the hydrocyclones of desilter is
selectable based on different treatment capacity in unit time.

2. GN Shale
Shaker & Desander AIO
(all in one machine) 

This machine is the combination of shaker and desander.
Compact structure and perfect work performance make it popular in all most all
the drilling industries. 

The desander is usually for separating out the solid
particles over 40μm in
the drilling fluid. Firstly the drilling fluid is screened by shale shaker
and then treated by desander. Based on the requirements for different treatment
capacity in unit time, the quantity of hydrocyclones of desander could be
selectable.

3. GN Shale
Shaker & Desilter & Desander AIO
(all in one machine) 

Actually this combination
of shaker, desilter and desander is called “Mud Cleaner” in GN. Its advantage is also
compact structure and has the complete functions for treating the drilling
fluids with 3 stages. 

The 1st stage is by
shaker, usually the solids particles over 100μm in fluid could be separated out;

The 2nd stage is by
desander, usually the solids particles over 40μm in fluid could be separated out;

The 3rd stage is by
desilter, usually the solids particles over 20μm in fluid could be separated out; 

This machine has 2-layer screens. The lower
screen
is used for doing the 1st stage separation, the upper screen is used for
further screening the separated solid particles by desander and desilter and
reducing the water in the solid particles.

1. GN Shale Shaker with different Treatment

As decided by different drilling rigs and
well depths, the needed drilling fluid volumes are also different. GN’s Shale

2. GN Shale Shaker with different types of
Shaker Screen.

As the necessary part of 1 complete shale
shaker, GN has many different types of shaker screen with high quality and competitive
price for customer option. Besides, the shaker screens that GN manufactures
could not only be used on GN’s shaker, but also could substitute most of the
screens made by other solids control companies on the global market.

If customer has the requirements for
substituting the other company’s shaker screen by using GN’s, it is just needed
to provide the specific dimensions, the mesh number, the original shape, and
the free samples could be sent for trying. The details are as below,

2.1.GN Steel Frame Screen

The steel frame screens are most applied to
the shale shaker. The screen frame adopts high-strength square steel tube welded
to multi-ribbed construction. They are sturdy and reliable. The screens are
constructed with 2 or 3 stainless steel layers bonded to a steel support plank. 

2.2. GN Pyramid Screen

This type of screen is the replacement
product of flat screen. The effective area is 125% to 150% of flat screens.
Without changing the construction of shakers, the using of the screens can
improve the quality of drilling fluid and increases the production. Screen has typical mesh cloth that appears
regular waves. And it can be mounted on suitable shaker by hookstrip or
wedge-shape fastening device. As compared to flat screens, this screen has
higher treatment capacity by reason of more useful area. 

2.3.GN Composite Screen

With the
development of drilling technology, and the idea promotion of environmental

drilling industry for cleaning the drilling fluid. GN Shale Shaker widely

Drilling fluid,
known as the mud, has several different functions to drill an oil or gas well,
including subsurface pressure control and cuttings removal, which also reduces
the friction between drill bit and the wellbore. 

When the Drilling rig is
working, the drilling cuttings that chipped away by the bit goes into the
drilling fluid and its technical parameters like density, viscosity and special
gravity will be changed and could not meet the drilling’s requirements,
seriously the Well Kick or Well Blowout could be happened. 

The drilling fluid circulated
the cuttings to the surface, as the sizes of cuttings in the drilling fluid are
different, in order to promote the treatment efficiency and effect, usually the
cuttings needs to be separated out by adopting multiple-stage separation. The Shale
Shaker is matched together with the Desander, Desilter and sometimes the Decanter
centrifuge is also equipped, to treat the drilling fluid and recover its
physical properties. 

Normally the Shale Shaker is
used as the 1st-stage drilling fluid purification equipment. It is mainly used
for screening out the big size cuttings like over 100μm. The working principle is as below, 

1.     
The
fluid pump circulates the fluid from the fluid pit to the Shale Shaker;

2.     
There
are vibration motors installed on the Shale Shaker. The motors produce shaking
force and the fluid moves on the Shaker Screen.

3.     
The
big size cuttings could not go through the Shaker Screen and are discharged.
The treated drilling fluid will go to the next-stage for continuous cleaning. 

Based on the different requirements of customers
